Three of the kids in my family - Samagra, Saarthak, & Nishtha - are members of the teams of Swimming and Roller Skating, in their school, and they talk a lot about their teammates at home...

One fine day, I and my wife Hema asked the kids to invite their teammates over to our place for dinner, so that we can also meet them...

Each of the kids invited two of his or her friends, and incidentally, each one of them received one friend from the swimming team, and the other from the roller skating team...

During the dinner, we asked them to introduce their friends to us, all of them smiled mischievously...

I immediately understood from my past experience, that they are going to throw a test for me now...

Saarthak said, "Papa, all of our friends are going to tell you about themselves, but you will have to tell us that who is in which team of which of your child... But remember one thing that from these guys, swimmers never lie, and roller skaters never tell a truth..."

Then the friends started...

• Jahnavi said: "Shreyas is Saarthak's teammate..."
• Suhasini said: "Adhyayan and I are not the friends of your same kid..."
• Adhyayan said: "Saarthak's teammate Akshita is a roller skater..."

• The six parents awarded were - Rohit, Shivangi, the parent of Falguni, the parent of Chitra, the parent of Chhavi, and the parent who stood second in the contest; but not necessarily in the same order...
• The names of the daughters of the parents, who stood fifth and sixth, were - Indrani; Divya; Chitra; and Ishika, but not necessarily in the same order...
• Pratham was Rupika's father...
• On the stage, between Bansal and the parent of Divya, there was one more parent...
• Sukanya was the next on stage after the parent of Rupali...
• Rohit was not two places after the parent of Utprerna...
• On the stage, between Adhyayan and the parent of Parvati, there was one more parent...
• The parent of Indrani was just the next on stage after a person of same sex...

इसी तरह पांचवें के आने पर जब पांच हिस्से किए गए, तब भी आश्चर्यजनक रूप से एक गिन्नी बची, और उन सबकी हैरानी का कोई छोर न रहा, जब छठे साथी के पहुंचने पर उन्होंने गिन्नियों के छह हिस्से किए और तब भी एक गिन्नी बच गई...

सो, इस प्रकार प्रतियोगिता में प्रत्येक बच्चे को इन्हीं पांच मंत्रों को कुल 15 बार पढ़ना था, और उन्हें शुद्ध उच्चारण के लिए अंक मिलने वाले थे...

गायत्री मंत्र को एक बार पढ़ने में 48 सेकंड लगने थे; महामृत्युंजय मंत्र में 78 सेकंड; प्रातःकालीन मंत्र में 88 सेकंड; णमोक्कार महामंत्र में 116 सेकंड; तथा श्री रामस्तुति का एक बार पाठ करने में 128 सेकंड लगने थे...

• सार्थक ने गायत्री मंत्र का पाठ चार मिनट में पूरा किया, और णमोक्कार महामंत्र तथा महामृत्युंजय मंत्र पर कुल मिलाकर पांच मिनट 10 सेकंड लगाए...

The five children of my family - Saarthak, Nishtha, Jigyaasa, Ambar, and Samagra - participated in a Sanskrit Mantrochchaaran (mantra recital or incantation) competition, for which five mantras - Gayatri Mantra, Maha-Mrityunjay Mantra, Praatah-kaaleen Mantra, Namokkaar Mahamantra, and Shri Ram Stuti - were chosen...

For the competition, the kids needed to recite one of the mantras five times, another four times, the third mantra needed to be recited three times, the fourth one two times, and the fifth and last mantra only once, but they needed to make sure that no two kids recite the same mantra the same number of times...

So, each of the kids needed to recite these five mantras 15 times in toto, and they were to be adjudged for their pronunciation...

Gayantri Mantra took 48 seconds in one recital; Maha-Mrityunjay Mantra 78 seconds; Praatah-kaaleen Mantra needed 88 seconds; Namokkaar Mahamantra 116 seconds; and Shri Ram Stuti took 128 seconds to finish each time its recited...

• Saarthak took four minutes to complete the recital of Gayantri Mantra; and spent five minutes 10 seconds in reciting Namokkaar Mahamantra & Maha-mrityunjay Mantra combined...
• Jigyaasa took the least time in toto, which was five minutes & 32 seconds less than the time taken by Nishtha...
• Ambar recited the Maha-mrityunjay Mantra twice; and spent 15 minutes & four seconds combined in reciting Namokkaar Mahamantra & Praatah-kaaleen Mantra...
• Nishtha took the most time in completing her recital, because she recited the Namokkaar Mahamantra five times, Shri Ram Stuti four times, and she recited Gayantri Mantra only once...
• The kid, who took 21 minutes & 26 seconds in the complete recital, recited Gayantri Mantra five times, and Shri Ram Sturi three times...
• Jigyaasa recited the Namokkaar Mahamantra only once; but she recited the Praatah-kaaleen Mantra three times, and Maha-mrityunjay Mantra five times...

समस्या वहां पर बसे हुए चमगादड़ थे, जो रस्सी पर मौजूद हर शख्स पर हमला कर देते थे, यदि उसने बिजली की तरंगे छोड़ने वाली जैकेट न पहनी हो, जिसे एक बार में दो बच्चे पहन सकते थे...

My and brother's kids - Saarthak, Nishtha, Jigyaasa & Ambar - went to a mountaneering trip, where they needed to cross a gorge between two peaks by hanging through a rope...

But the problem was, the bats who attack the people on the rope, until they are wearing an electrical jacket, which can be worn by two kids at one time...

The gorge was more than 250 meters wide, so the jacket could not be thrown back, and someone had to be back through the rope wearing the jacket, until all four of them reach safely on the other peak...

Now, if through that rope, Saarthak can reach to the other peak in 3 (three) minutes, Jigyaasa can reach there in 7 (seven) minutes, Ambar can reach there in 13 (thirteen) minutes and Nishtha can reach to the other peak in 17 (seventeen) minutes, you guys tell me, at least how long will it take all of them to reach to the other side...?

After almost three decades, I visited my ancestral home, and felt thrilled to see a cupboard in which I used to keep my belongings in my childhood...

They totalled Rupees Two Hundred Twenty and Paise Five Only, but the unusual part was, all the coins it had were in equal number, that is 135 coins of each denomination...
